Insurance

Do You Accept Insurance?

I am no longer contracted with insurance providers. This decision comes from a deep commitment to offering care that aligns with my values and prioritizes your well-being.

Insurance companies often impose limitations that can interfere with the therapeutic process. These may include:

  • Requiring a mental health diagnosis that becomes part of your permanent health record, which could affect future coverage.

  • Dictating the type, length, and frequency of care, rather than allowing therapy to unfold at a pace that’s right for you.

  • Requesting access to your private therapy notes, which compromises the confidentiality I believe is essential to meaningful healing.

Additionally, increasing administrative demands and reduced reimbursement rates from insurance companies have made it challenging to provide the level of care I strive for. Instead of spending time navigating these hurdles, I’m focused on offering personalized, high-quality care tailored to your unique needs.

Beyond these limitations, I am also deeply aware of the political climate that is influencing increased oversight within insurance systems that often creates barriers to care—particularly for vulnerable and marginalized communities. I cannot, in good faith, participate in a system that perpetuates these inequities while striving to support and uplift those most affected. My practice is rooted in providing ethical, inclusive care that honors your autonomy and privacy.

What This Means for You

Choosing to invest in therapy without insurance allows us to work together in a way that feels safe, private, and guided by your goals—not insurance policies. While I recognize that self-pay isn’t accessible for everyone, this approach supports a more flexible, client-centered experience.

If you’d still like to use your insurance benefits, I am considered an out-of-network provider for all other insurance plans. I’m happy to provide a Superbill—an itemized receipt you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. Since out-of-network coverage varies, I recommend reaching out to your insurance provider directly to understand your plan’s benefits and any steps required for reimbursement. You may also consider using a service like Thrizer or Mentaya to assist in out-of-network reimbursement.

Equity Pricing

I offer equity pricing for clients with limited income, especially for those who hold historically oppressed identities, and need financial assistance to access care. Proof of income is not required. The rate is mutually agreed upon during the consultation and I invite clients to revisit the topic of payment at any time. Please keep in mind your own personal financial experiences and level of privilege when determining if equity pricing is for you. I invite you to visit this graphic created by Alexis J. Cunningfolk that details equity pricing and where to place yourself based on your circumstances.

Equity Pricing:

Tier 1: $125

Tier 2: $100

Tier 3: $75

Reduced fee appointments are currently full.

Payment

Payment is due at the time of service. I accept credit/debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, AMEX) &/or HSA/FSA cards. For those clients wanting to use their HSA/FSA, I ask that a back-up card is also provided. There are times when the funds available do not fully cover the cost of a session and the system I use is not set up to split payment between multiple cards. Prior to using your HSA/FSA, please contact your provider to determine if those funds may be used for mental health care.
